Transpo Group, a Kirkland-based transportation planning and engineering firm and Northwest Hub sponsor, was recently recognized in CE News’ annual rankings, the “2009 Best Civil Engineering Firms to Work For.”
Transpo Group was ranked second in the overall category of “2009 Best Civil Engineering Firms to Work For” and first in the category of “Top 20 Small Firms (less than 100 employees).” The firm was recognized because it “offers staff support, development and open dialogue,” according to an article about the competition on CE News’ website. The firm was also recognized for having “the best employee training program” in the ranking’s “Superlative Spotlight,” which highlights achievements of individual firms, independent of rankings.
Carol Metzner, president of the Metzner Group LLC and judge in the rankings, said of the firm:
“Meeting the challenges facing the industry, Transpo Group responds by continuing staff training through a variety of avenues. Where many firms are curtailing benefits and training, the company has not, and recognizes the need to continue development of their most valuable asset—their employees! Their care of their staff translates into employee loyalty as seen in tenure, as well as positive employee feedback on the firm.”
In the past year Transpo Group instituted a disaster recovery plan for its information technology system, a new client feedback survey, a leadership coaching program, improved on-boarding process for new employees and clarified its ownership transition plan. It is also moving forward with plans to open an office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Last month Transpo Group President Bruce Haldors spoke about how the firm has weathered the current economic climate at the 2009 Best Firm to Work for Summit in Chicago.
The rankings were conducted by consulting firm ZweigWhite on behalf of CE News.
