Snohomish County's Community Transit announced the completion of the first station on the Swift bus rapid transit (BRT) line that will launch in November. The station is one of 12 planned stations on the new BRT line, which will provide service along Highway 99 between Everett and the Aurora Village Transit Center near Shoreline starting Nov. 29.
Community Transit is also conducting two outreach events this week as part of its ongoing effort to raise awareness of the new service. A Swift bus will be on hand at the Aurora Village Transit Center tomorrow from 7-9 a.m. and at the Lynnwood Transit Center on Friday from 2-5 p.m. More events are planned for stations along the route in the coming months.
The $29.5 million Swift system is a joint venture between Everett Transit and Community Transit. Everett Transit held a groundbreaking ceremony for its BRT terminal at Everett Station in August. For those really excited about Swift, Community Transit has added a "Swift Countdown Clock" to its website to count each second until the first departure.
