Chairman’s Corner: Mark Twain’s 1897 Comment is Worth Repeating

A journalist in 1897 believed Mark Twain was near death. Actually, it was his cousin. Twain responded: “The report of my death is an exaggeration.”  This has similarly happened with Northwest Hub where at least one local media outlet believed we were close to death.

We suggest no one send flowers. A donation to your favorite food bank, however, is appropriate. Make it out of joy and generosity, not to mark our supposed passing. The community might as well benefit from the exaggerated report.

This site has grown from 3000 visits in August, to 10,000 visits in September and to 15,000 visits in October. We have received a number of great compliments.

Northwest Hub has spent a lot of time and effort getting it right: becoming the industry’s leading aggregator by finding the right sources to feed into the site’s “News Wire,”; developing the format for “Features and News Posts” and filling them with life; building a reputation as the industry’s leading portal in the Northwest, and attracting a following that is second to none and that makes Northwest Hub the preeminent go-to site for land use professionals in Washington.

Now the time has come to take the next step: Northwest Hub is stepping out and asking the community to engage. We’ve shown we can write good articles and find and pass on the key news. Now we want to engage our readership in a vibrant conversation, in a discussion on the issues that shape our collective future.

Introducing the NEW Northwest Hub:

WE will continue to provide the “Features and News Posts,” while welcoming you to contribute your own.

WE will also continue to be the aggregators that sift through over 100 news sources to bring you the most relevant, current and interesting news briefs in the market.

YOU will then hopefully engage in discussion, sending us articles or messages with statements you want to make, commentaries you want to provide, questions you want to ask. This is your forum where you can make your voice heard, share valuable information, elicit ideas or simply sound off.

Welcome to the new Northwest Hub that has come of age!
