Seattle’s Homegrown Stimulus Package Benefits Ballard

Several years ago the Fleets and Facilities Department of the City of Seattle surplused what apparently was a former substation site near 32nd Avenue NW and NW 65th Street. The battered sign shown here survived the ravages of the Ballard winters and has now led to a potential great use of the site.

MYBALLARD, a neighborhood blog, reported today that The Sunset Hill Community Association was been awarded a Department of Neighborhoods Small and Simple Matching Fund to study the site's use for the community.  In fine Ballard tradition the Association will start the public planning process with a party on December 19th.
