(Pete Buck, chairman of the nonprofit board of Northwest Hub, will be contributing serendipitous observations from time to time. He has a tiny camera in the glove box of his car and an eye and ear for what is good in the world. As noted in an earlier post, Transportation Solutions, Inc. (a Northwest Hub sponsor) is getting aggressive about dealing with morale during the current economic meltdown, which has hit the land use, environmental, and real estate fields particularly hard. The Chairman’s Corner will be highlighting its efforts and those of others in the community in the coming months.
TSI’s most recent effort is quite similar to the contest discussed in the earlier post.
One employee baked 16 cookies and left them with a plain brown surface. She also came up with nine different decorating materials including various frostings, sprinkles and candy corn. 100% of the staff took part. This even included the engineers, a group some might not consider prone to artistry.
The decorating contest took place after lunch. The three categories were original, scariest and funniest. Prizes included a bag of rubber mice, a light-up eyeball, and a skeleton goblin.
Two engineers won prizes. It is reported by Jill Berberich that they were technically superb.
